Some patients require only consultation and advice. Others may need investigations, treatment, a procedure or ongoing follow-up. The pathway is adapted to your condition and priorities.
Referral
Your GP or treating doctor sends a referral to the rooms. Our practice team will contact you to arrange an appropriate appointment.
Consultation
An unhurried discussion of your symptoms, history and priorities, with examination where appropriate and a clear explanation of what is known and what may still need to be confirmed.
Investigations
Tests, imaging or endoscopy may be arranged when needed. Our team will explain the preparation, timing and next steps in plain English.
Planning and treatment options
Once the relevant information is available, we discuss the reasonable options and what each may mean for you. This may include observation, medical treatment, a procedure under sedation or surgery.
Procedure or surgery, if required
When a procedure or surgery is appropriate, we explain what is involved, the expected benefits and risks, hospital arrangements, anaesthesia and preparation.
Not every patient will require a procedure or surgery. Your pathway will depend on your diagnosis, symptoms, preferences and clinical circumstances.
Recovery
Practical guidance is provided about hospital stay, diet, activity, driving, work, travel, wound care and symptoms that should prompt further advice.
Follow-up
Follow-up is arranged according to your condition and treatment. This may include results review, recovery checks, surveillance or longer-term management.
